This Vision and Hope Policy is possible, but can only be achieved by using lateral thinking and imagination.
10th September, now nearly two years later
As the clock ticks down to when Caitlin is 15 years old,I look back at the events of the past two years.
When a small group of people based in Australia started a Virtual Democracy Government.
www.queenslandgovernment.com and set out to firstly, lift the profile of the plight of
indigenous people in Australia, knowing that if we- all of us, don't respect traditional owners of any land, we can't achieve the promise made to Caitlin. If we in Australia can't get along, how can we expect the rest of the world to
The indigenous people of Australia have the longest songline in the world, and as such are Living Treasures, more valuable then any building.
If we don't start to work out soon the value of the Wisdom of the Elders, and their respect for Mother Earth, we simply won't have an earth to build on.
Over the past two years, we have seen so many terrible things happening, Sept 11, Afghanistan, Middle East, the list goes on -and on!
The promise to Caitlin to make it a better world for her and all children, is not easy, but it is possible.
Shortly after the bombing in Afghanistan, I searched the world to find something more personal about the war, then what I was seeing on TV and through the media
I found Sayad Yahya a graphic artist from Afghanistan, studying in Pakistan. Yahya had made the most powerful little movie that showed what war is all about
Cry for Afghanistan
He became our
Ambassador for Afghanistan. We became friends from that day on. Yahya mentioned to me that he would like to put one of my poems into a movieclip sometime.
I knew then- I had not written that poem, I would when the time was right.
The Virtual Government grew and spread all over the world through a Gazette I issued each week
Part of our plans were to set up a cottage industry network, another long time vision of mine from my thrithy year involvment with indigenous people and
my first hand experience with them
I moved from Brisbane to Cairns a year ago, continued the www.queenslandgovernment.com and networked with indigenous and non-indigenous people. Finding support from as far away as South Australia, in the way of
Patrick Bryt and the Ngarrinderri people,
"Secret Women's Business", who now rightfully own the www.secretwomensbusiness.com domain name which had been mine.
Through Patrick, I gained a lot of support from other organisations involved in
Human Rights.
Sir Chris and
Comcen Internet Providers continued to sponsor the website
Christopher Williams from
Recovery in England continued to teach me about web building, for which I thank him
Many people,
Across the world, across the net
Our hearts reach out and touch
Joined together for all time
No faith, no race, on hate
As we merge and become
On the 16th July a small group met at my house and we set up the steering committee to look at setting up a Cottage Industries Network
We had a launch on the 25th August where among other thing we auctioned off the www.queenslandgovernment.com domain, this will be handed over to the next Premier shortly,to continue on in a simular but different form, by Phillip Charlier
and his band of merry men. They will
be part of us,
Reaching out like a Rainbow Serpent
Winding it's way slowly across the ancient land
Leaving a track of love upon the earth
Where our thoughts and feelings flow
Giving peace to every child
On the 17th July I woke and wrote the poem, One Mind One Voice
A few days before I had been contacted by
Ofir Nafker from Israel an indigenous word Bumma, the reason we were brought together, we communicated and I listened to his beautiful music and at the same time, thought about what was happening in the Middle East right at that moment
Crying out for all mankind
To forget about the past wrongs
Remember instead, the child you use to be
When your heart knew only love
Join us, spreading the word of
One Mind One Voice
The poem just happened, the next step towards the promise made to Caitlin.
I knew then this was the poem Yahya should make into a movie
Telling the world and all who listen
We are the guardians of Vision and Hope
Of each and every child,
We are the future, that we leave them
One Mind One Voice
Of tolerance and compassion
Understanding, a willingness to learn
Sharing knowledge and the wealth
To ease the pain and all suffering
Replace it with love and laughter
One Mind One Voice
Ready to dance, to sing, to play
Grow strong and tall and proud
Hearts now filled with joy
As we reach out across the world
A family of humanity, just
One Mind One Voice
