Two Hands Two Years

Two Hands Two Years

Two years ago I held your hand
Dad remember? the day after I was born
It was so big, so strong - so gentle
It was so secure and very warm
Since then I've grown, I'm two years old
I have held tight to many things
Mummy's hair as she breastfeed me
The blanket when I was all alone
The mobile hanging from my crib
Many toys you all gave to me
Then my bottle all by myself
Grass, dirt, water, sand and stone
Flower, biscuit, bubble, ball and book
A spoon when I first feed myself
My very own two handle drinking cup
The hose I loved to spray
Greatgranma Joey's, cd's and tapes
Many people as they picked me up
The cats tail as it ran to get away
A pen as I tried to write to Granma
The chair, table, leg and mummy's skirt
My favorite trolley with my blocks
The handles of my little bike
The rocking horse I loved to ride
Now I sit upon your shoulders
Pretend I am flying high up in the air
Knowing your hand still protects me
As I knew two years ago, it always would
