Peace Table

Peace Table

The Perfect Gift

I have racked my brain and thought awhile
What is the perfect gift to give to every child?
A time when some will be given everything
Others will be crying from not enough to eat
Maybe a bomb has just ripped through their home
Others are out throwing rocks and stones
Or growing up to strap on their own bomb
They have too- if they don't own the tanks
How can we, as a human race
Celebrate with all the Christmas joy and trimmings
With the latest Harry Potter merchandising
Ignoring - even one Child's cry for help
Instead ask why do they have so much hate?
Is Christmas a time we turn our backs?
Wrap up in Christmas cheer
Deck the halls in holly; turn on the Christmas lights
I hope, this is the year, when many will reflect
On how can we all do better?
For each and every child
May I recommend the perfect gift
Lets all of us work very hard next year
Without hate in our hearts and souls
Fill them first with love instead
Then fix the Palestine/ Israeli family feud
No matter what it takes we must
Get them to a Peace Table somewhere- somehow
For dialog and compromise
Ending the occupation
And when they start the process
Let the world then support and praise them
On behalf of all the children far and wide
If we do this, instead of fighting terrorists
Planing attacks and other wars
Or worse still-the strike first option
Don't they know there is no sides
Just a frustrated human race
Who have lost the meaning of life
If the world all worked together
They could join with us and celebrate
Peace, come next Christmas night
When a Star could shine were it belongs
Right over Bethlehem
Not on some fake Christmas tree!
