Through the Mind of a Child

          3/12/2002

As you know Caitlin Jean turned two years old on the 30th of November. I was sent some photos which I couldn't open the day of her birthday. Sunday being the day after, I finally opened them and found she was busy writing a poem for her dad. She asked for my help.

Granma can you help me?

While she was busy finishing her shorthand. I started to think about the past year and what would be the perfect gift for the children of the world, something that would help to make it a better world for all children.

I started remembering one of my WOW moments, when I had sat at a very beautiful peace table. It was up to me to be very calm and quiet, so the others could calm down and trust me, even enough to share the same table with me, let alone share the same thoughts.

I was the one with all the power and control. I could have just raise my arms and told them to piss off and find their own table. I could have thrown them a few crumbs, while I dined on the food the earth provides for us all.

They could have waited for me to leave, then pick up the crumbs I left behind, or someone else could have told them they were not wanted.

Or I could do as I did and treated them as an my equals, invited them to share the table. Thanks heavens I did, otherwise, I would have missed their wonderful company and the joy of being able to share and observe each other at very close range, a chance to see qualities you miss from a distance.

Sharing the same space is not that hard, you both just have to want to do it.

The Perfect Gift

Did you know there is over 70% unemployment in Bethlehem? Must be about the same as for indigenous Australian? No wonder they have so many problems, are so angry and frustrated.

As I head off down the Coast to spend time with Caitlin, my children, mum, family, friends and my other grand children. I know in my heart and soul that it is the Palestine/ Israeli family feud that is the biggest problem facing the world today. Solve it and we are halfway there.

I also know it would be the easiest to solve if all the world set their Minds and Voices to it as A Family of Humanity. Reach out with the hand of understanding, instead of one pointing a gun.

I am not going to wish you a Merry Christmas, or send anyone a card, as that would be so false and hollow from me. What I wish is that as we go into 2003, we think of the children. Who don't need gifts to know how much they are loved.

They need love to know they are loved

Like Caitlin's feels as she sits high and safe on her dads shoulders.

As the songs says, What the world needs now is Love sweet Love.

I wish you love and time to reflect

and if I could afford it I would buy you all a copy of Ishmael

I thank you for your support, please don't go away as I will need you all in 2003, when we continue to work to make it a better world for Caitlin and all the children of the world.

When I will ask you for your help to translate the One Mind One Voice poem into as many different languages as possible.

I will also be inviting many schools around the world to be part of a children's exhibition called "Through the Mind of a Child" which will start in Australia at an indigenous school, where children will be shown the One Mind One Voice, poem and film and I will explain the concept behind it.

Then they will be asked to paint their feelings about the poem and how they would like to see their future.

18 works will be selected from the first school and shown the next school which will be a non-indigenous school and the same process will continue overseas firstly in Taipei and then on to other schools around the world hopefully including the Hope Flower School in Palestine, and Kabul in Afghanistan, who know maybe even Bagdad along the way, another reason to fix the family feud.

Each school will be filmed and this and messages shown to the following school forming a one on one link between them.

Thirty six schools, one for each line of the poem will complete the peace circle.

"We all sit in the circle and suppose, while the answer sits in the circle and knows"

As the schools are added the exhibition grows and divides making more circles reaching out across the world. As the worlds of the poem says: No faith, No race, No hate, just

A Family of Humanity.

Now to find sponsors. Tell you more in the New Year, until then love and take care of each child, that's all they need, they will survive without Harry Potter!

Well until the next corporate manufactured perfect Christmas gift comes along!

But remember to also nurture the child inside of you and if you have lost or forgotten it- take the time to find that part of you again, when your heart knew only love.

I think our family is planing to hold our own Backyard Olympics on Christmas Eve, so I am busy training for one event synchronized swimming under the sprinker. Bit hard when my team mate Gary is in Taipei and it won't be easy with my crock left arm and shoulder, but it will be fun. Now where did I put those sequins, hope Gary likes purple.

So untill next year take care
