An open letter to Jane

          1/9/2003

Dear Jane

I only know your first name - you know me as Kerry.

I only got to spend a short time with you - but I know you so very well.

You are one of The Three Angels, who preformed for me when I visited your Joy School while I was in Taiwan in August this year.

While I still only know your first name, I now know you are eleven years old. I know so very much about you, not your outer self, but your inner self, the part of you, I relate to very well.

I sat a few metres from you as you recited the One Mind One Voice poem for me, not only once with the other two angels - but a second time by yourself, the whole 36 lines of the poem in English, your second language - where your heart and soul merged with my words.

You touched my soul, and I knew then that my poem and these words are etched in your heart forever.

You felt the poem, related to the words, spoke them as if they were your own, because they were your words, your message, our message.

A message I penned on your behalf, on behalf of all children, on behalf of the world, now in so much pain and looking for signs of where do we go from here?

Jane you may only be eleven, but you already know in your heart, like the poem, we are joined together for all time, we are One Mind One Voice.

I give you hope for your future - you give me hope for Caitlin's.

I also know that what I am about to ask you, will surprise you, excite you, shock you a bit, but it will also set your head, heart and soul racing, as you work out what needs to be done, in your new roll of.

The Global Children's Alliance.

Ambassador from Taiwan.

You are the first child/ young person, to be invited to take up a position on the Advisory Council for the Global Children's Alliance when it is officially formed in May 2004. You have shown me, that you will work to make it a better world for Caitlin and all children, that you hold in your soul the words and ways to make this vision a reality.

I look forward to you helping the Global Children's Alliance as we work to make it a better world for all children by the year 2015.

You maybe asking yourself right now. Why me? Why did I pick you to be our first Ambassador? Yes the reading of the poem had a lot to do with it, the fact you asked your teachers, if you could recite all of it by yourself, showed me you were passionate about the poem, always a good sign. You are also not frightened to sat up and do something alone.

Watching how you recited it, I knew you were not preforming the poem to impress me, but because the poem impressed you.

Then to add to this, when asked as others in your class were to make your handprints for the HOPE project, So impressive were they all, but again your print caught my eye and touched my soul.

The work you put into changing a flat piece of paper into 3 dimension artpiece on cardboard not paper, raising the heart and cutting out a special little bit of paper for One Mind One Voice speaks volumes, like it was a precious gift you were giving to the world, unconditional love flows from it.

Jane it is indeed a precious gift, one I will cherish and show to the world. I must as it has your heart and soul attached. Nothing is more precious than that. That is something I will be looking for in other Ambassador from around the world.

A passion and belief for what they are doing.

Jane I hope you will honour us by take up your position as our Ambassador from Taiwan when we have the first meeting of the Global Children's Alliance, early May, 2004 in Australia. I do hope that the Joy Cultural and Educational Foundation, will bring you to Australia, where you can address the Board and advise us on how to make it a better world for all of us.

Your beautiful picture is now on the website, at the base of

The Three Angel poem - where it just seems to belong.

Have a nice day - I will because of you.
