Last week in the weekly newsletter 'What can we do about Terrorism" I felt
the solution would be just the same as it is for violence on indigenous communities.
"We have to fix the cause not the problem"
Well I have spent every spare minute this week researching, reading, thinking about terrorism issue to try to find the cause.
The wonderful thing about the internet is you have information at your finger tips.
Information from all sides of the arguments, so much information is available.
What I have found about the terrorism is just the same as the indigenous issue: Blowback.
The CIA’s famous word for unintended consequences—“blowback”—
The Lesson of Blowback Sunday, September 30, 2001 in the Los Angeles Times.
If this armada is used against the hopeless and impoverished people of Afghanistan, there is no doubt that it will produce a general crisis throughout the Islamic world, probably affecting even moderate nations such as Indonesia and Malaysia. The end result will not be "victory" in a "war on terrorism" but a further cycle of terrorist attacks, American casualties and escalation.
What should we do instead? The answers seem obvious. We must recognize that the terrorism of Sept. 11 was not directed against America but against American foreign policy. We should listen to the grievances of the Islamic peoples, stop propping up repressive regimes in the area, protect Israel's security but denounce its apartheid practices in Palestinian areas and reform our "globalization" policies so that they no longer mean that the rich are getting richer and the poor poorer.
If the United States' only response to terrorism is more terrorism, it will have discredited itself and can expect to be treated as the rogue state it will have become.
"Money is like manure," said U.S. industrialist Clint Murchison.
"If you spread it around, it does a lot of good. But if you pile it up in one place, it stinks like hell."
Meanwhile I found I know so little about Islam so it was time to learn more.Simply Islam
I do now know
By 2025, it is projected that Muslims will make up about 30 percent of the world population and Christians about 25 percent. 2002 figures are set at being 1.44 billion.
Half the Muslim population is under the age of 16.
Also I thought I should try to find out what makes a terrorist, who are they?
Jobs or jihad,
that’s the question
Quote of the week
October 21, 2002
"We think the Iraqi people would be a lot better off with a different leader, a different regime," Powell said.
"We think the American people would be a lot better off with a different leader, a different regime," I also know they do have weapons of mass destruction, but it doesn't give me the right to bomb the crap out of them," Kerry Bowden said.
What did I find was the cause of terrorism? Money, Money, Money. it's a rich man's world!
The trouble in the world today are all caused by : Not religion or money
but by Men!!
Men, who do not put the same value on a child's life as most mother's do, a mother would take the child over money every time.
What I didn't find in my search was women having a say in all of this?
Solution: More women telling men, Enough is Enough!
and as Caitlin says:
"Send someone you know my
Huggy hug, beats sending a bomb any day."
