Recovery and Keeper of the House
Minister Christopher
Awarded the Premier's Conspicuous Gallantry Medal
My name is Christopher and I'm honoured to have been appointed (?) to
the post of Minister for Recovery, with additional responsibility for
correcting all Kerry B's hideous errors on the websites.
I live in the UK.
Now don't hold that against me. We all have to live somewhere - and
I bet that you're at least glad I don't live next to YOU!
Anyhow - I live in Bristol, England.
I'm 49 years old and am a recovering alcoholic / drug addict. That
means for 20 - 25 years drugs and alcohol played an increasingly
important part in my life - until they became THE MOST IMPORTANT
thing in my life.
It was alcohol that took me to the pits finally - but it's just
another drug, like any drug, so I regard myself as a recovering drug
addict and/ or an alcoholic. "Recovering" just means that I don't
drink or take drugs on a daily basis. So I haven't had any today.
Might tomorrow though. I don't know. I just deal with today.
I haven't had a drink or drug for 9 years now. Life is good (apart
from loss of many hairs that used to live on top of my head . . . )
I'm lucky. A lot of my friends have died through drink or drugs -
more than 30 - including some of my best friends. More are dying
slowly today.
Well - that's enough about that.
I do a lot of voluntary work - primarily writing websites. The Centre for
Recovery is one that I have written (http://www.recovery.org.uk/).
Am also a member of "The Land is Ours" a UK organisation which
"campaigns peacefully for access to the land, its resources and the
decision making processes affecting them, for everyone, irrespective
of race, age or gender".
I support unconditionally the concept of "aboriginal rights" within
any country - but because of my lack of knowledge regarding
Queensland, I would not feel qualified to contribute to any debate on
such issues there. But I can give my support in other ways.
