Global Strategic Alliance
About Us
In August of 2002 Oscar Arias, Baltasar Garzon, Betty Williams, Deepak Chopra, Kerry Kennedy Cuomo, Roberto Savio, Ricky Martin and others met in Puerto Rico and agreed to form The Global Strategic Alliance for the New Humanity (GSA).
Our purpose is to take direct action to reduce and eventually eliminate violence and its effects on humanity and to create a large scale forum and social movement from which a new humanity can emerge.
Our strategy is to support, complement, enhance and coordinate the activities of existing individuals, organizations and institutions by building an integrated global system of local, regional and continental grass roots communities dedicated to the pursuit of peace, non-violence and social justice.
An organization dedicated to the pursuit of peace, non-violence and social justice. At the local level, these communities may take the form of “peace cells” which form, connect and function individually according to their own needs, designs and purposes but which are connected through a virtual neural network (the internet) and through fundamental, life enhancing needs and aspirations to the entire organism of humanity.
The GSA will focus on core elements which no one organization can accomplish by itself:
* Building and nurturing a world brand for PEACE with accredited products, services and programs.
* Creating the preeminent information source on PEACE in print, web and other media and using this network to produce and distribute information to as broad a global audience as possible.
* Creating a state-of-the-art global internet communications system to link individuals and organizations across national and physical boundaries with simultaneous knowledge and coordinated action.
* Conducting, sponsoring and coordinating cutting edge research in non-violence, social justice and education and devising means to distribute the tools, programs and strategies that result from this research to as broad an audience as possible, including methods for enhancing and coordinating the efforts of existing organizations to achieve greater efficiency and impact.
* Creating outreach programs to establish stronger two-way communication into the world's most troubled geographical regions and underserved segments of all societies with the intent of identifying primary needs and devising means to address those needs.
* Sponsoring conferences and educational activities to promote greater cross-cultural understanding and cooperation.
* Identifying, creating and disseminating novel financing and support strategies to amplify the activities of affiliated organizations both individually and collectively.
The GSA will be organized as a non-profit non-governmental organization with for-profit subsidiaries and partnerships with an international Board of Directors representing all world regions.
Both the global and regional components of the GSA will be encouraged to develop strategic partnerships with public institutions and private corporations that enhance the activities and goals of the GSA.
