Policy Statement

In a world where all those who inhabit it are increasingly divided by access to knowledge and riches, and by the division between the nuclear family and the extended family unit, it is incumbent upon the virtual government to shape frameworks for a future in which equity and equality are key foundations.

Central to this is the issue of democracy - not the democracy we all think of as voting once every four years - but a democracy where the views and opinions of all are expressed and expressable. Where opinion is formed with due access to information and knowledge, and able to be expressed with no fear of reprisal and the intrinsic knowledge that that opinion will be heard.

Democracy can only be promulgated on a foundation of knowledge which enables each of us to interpret the issues which impact on our every day lives. Knowledge gives us the power to make informed decisions, if we choose to. Fundamental to the issue of democracy is that people still have the right to choose if they want to participate in the decision making proces. However, it is the policy of theVirtual Government to inculcate in every individual the righteousness of the need to participate, such that the choice not will not be a choice at all but a given part of life.

A citizen armed with knowledge of the issues of the impact that decisions will have on their everyday life is empowered to be subjective in their assessment of those decisions, and to have the privilige of demonstrating thei assessment to the elected law makers.

The process of democracy is fundamentally driven by those who are most often considered the marginalised - those whose very daily life is the grist of the mill of the need for decision making.

Community is at the very heart - and the empowerment of the individuals which make up community is the key to the heart.

The policies of the Virtual Government will give strength and determination to individuals such that each will have the personal will to participate in, and contribute to, their wider community.
